A dry iron, built the old way

This is a Panasonic NI-22AWTXJ De-luxe Automatic Iron — a classic dry iron, not a steam iron. No water tank, no spray, nothing to leak or clog. Just a heavy, properly made iron that heats up and stays hot.

If you've ever had a steam iron die because hard water blocked it, you already know why people still ask for these.

Gold non-stick soleplate

The ironing surface is a gold-coloured non-stick plate under a chrome metal cover. It glides over synthetics without catching, and wipes clean if anything marks it.

Six fabric settings on one dial

A single dial marked for acrylic, nylon, silk, rayon, wool, cotton and linen. Turn it to the fabric, wait for the pilot lamp, iron. The thermostat holds the temperature by itself and the large orange pilot lamp tells you when it's ready.

Weight does the work

At 6lb, this iron presses creases out with heat and weight rather than steam. On cotton and linen kameez that means fewer passes, and a finish lighter steam irons struggle to match. For anything that needs moisture, dampen the fabric lightly first — the way it's always been done.

Left or right handed

The cloth-covered cord can be moved to either side of the handle, so it doesn't drag across what you're ironing. Instructions for the swap are in the box.
